Mary
Ann Cherry is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the Women
Artists of the West. Cherry is co-founder of the Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies and current president.
She is also a member of the Oil Painters of America and the Snake River Plein Air Painters in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Recent awards include
Third in Pastels at the national juried Phippen Museum Westrn Art Show (2009) in Prescott, Arizona, where one of her paintings is in the permanent collection. She won Best of Show, the Founders Award, and Best Pastel at the 2007 Phippen Museum juried show.Cherry won the first
statewide park's competition, "Idaho Paints Idaho", with her pastel "Hot Day at
Massacre Rocks" and has won several regional awards in this competition. She's also
been a finalist in both the Pastel Journal Magazine's "Pastel 100" competition
and the American Artists' Magazine's annual competition.
Cherry
has been featured in the Wildlife Art Magazine's "Artists' Viewpoint".
Mary Ann paints primarily in
soft pastel or oils, but is proficient in watercolor as well. Cherry's studio is near the Snake River in Idaho,
where wildlife and birds are abundant. Consequently, wildlife and animals are
a favorite choice of subject. She is comfortable with any subject matter
and is a prolific painter, and she accepts
commissions.
Cherry is a nationally known workshop instructor and is available for workshops in oil, watercolor or pastel. For those who cannot attend a workshop, she handles an online critique service.
